PASSION AND A PEN
“Art has always been a major passion of mine, so it truly is an honor and privilege to be able to do what I love for a living.”
An artist by trade, Twickert can intertwine his drawing abilities with an array of digital tools. The result? Comic-inspired characters that ooze in style and offer a fresh approach to the comic art culture.
“Vintage 1930s cartoons were a huge influence on my ‘D3AD 3ND’ collection,” he shares. “I also grew up skateboarding in the 90s, so the Vintage 90s street skater aesthetic is another influence on my art. Art legends I look up to are Andy Warhol and Rene Magritte.”
Before becoming a multi-disciplinary artist known for his rubber hose cartoon and pop art styles, Twickert entered the web3 sphere as a collector. “I only switched to digital art as my main medium in 2022 when I was sick and going through chemotherapy. I needed a healthy emotional outlet when I was stuck in the hospital for long hours, sometimes days at a time. Digital art was that perfect healthy emotional outlet.”
There are countless examples where NFTs and web3 have provided artists with therapeutic outlets and a platform to showcase their abilities. And with a support network of collectors and artists building together, the dream of being a full-time artist is more achievable now than ever. “Art has always been a major passion of mine, so it truly is an honor and privilege to be able to do what I love for a living.”
Twickert has captivated collectors and artists with his fine lines, delicate colors, and eye-catching characters. “My artistic process is pretty sporadic. Usually, a thought or idea for a piece pops into my mind, and I rush to my iPad and start building it out.”
With over 100 artworks in his genesis collection, ‘Twick Toons,’ and a further 73 on ‘D3AD 3ND,’ it’s safe to say he isn’t short of creative inspiration. Or, in other words, he’s always running to the iPad.
