Terrell Jones has been besotted with art for as long as he can remember. Attending several shoe design workshops to appease his parents’ request for him to have something to fall back on, Terrell’s hopes for a full-time career as an artist were shelved – but he still did commissions after hours.

Working on a shoe design project resulted in a chance encounter with fellow designer, Jordan Azzow, who enlightened him about the infinite potential of web3. As destiny would have it, he was never too far removed from creativity.

Releasing his genesis drop ‘Margret’ on Foundation in March 2021, his first sale was not finalized until months later. While this might have put a damper on anyone else’s enthusiasm, Terrell was not to be thwarted. Refusing to give up before giving it his all, he quit his job, prioritizing art.

Providing him with the drive to persevere, the sale of his genesis was followed by the release of a piece he completed mere moments before entering the NFT space. Aptly named ‘Joy,’ it beautifully portrays the whimsical innocence of a child.

Has Terrell embraced the power of AI yet? “I definitely use AI to help me. It helps me with references and colors, for instance. I am not someone who will deny ever using AI. It is a very useful tool, and it has helped me garner a much better understanding of various aspects of art. I will encourage people to play around with AI, even if they don’t end up using it in their art.”

Solid collaborations can open many doors for digital artists in web3. Although he does not have any noteworthy ones under the belt to date, Terrell does have a list of future collaborations in mind. He says: “I will never force a collaboration, but there are musicians and artists that I wouldn’t mind working with.” Who are these artists he has in mind? Vinny Hager and Amu rate high on his list, alongside a myriad of other renowned talents.

Believing in the power of ‘giving back’ to the community, Terrell has accumulated a nifty NFT collection of his own. For as long as he is able to, Terrell will support other artists traveling along a path that is, in many ways, very similar to his own.
