“I’m inspired by many others in the space who draw on crypto culture, such as Josie, Stellabelle, Coldie, Simon de la Rouviere, patternbase, divergence, and others.”

Takens Theorem is a man of many talents: cryptothematic data analyst, writer, and visualist. Embracing his anonymity, Takens Theorem does not divulge much of his backstory. What he is very vocal about is his profound passion and respect for data.

Takens Theorem first became interested in NFTs in 2018. By 2019, he was a contributing writer on OpenSea, penning blog posts and sharing data visuals and analysis. Through his involvement in these projects, he became completely engrossed in everything the space had to offer.

His role in web3 today is multifaceted. One strand of his work sees him rendering striking visuals of expansive data sources. On the other, he actualizes complete on-chain works that rely on state availability in contracts. ‘The Mesh,’ which uses Solidity to create a visualization for the owning wallet, is an excellent example of such a project.

Happy to give back to the community, Takens Theorem boasts the work of several artists in his NFT collection. Does he have a specific strategy he employs when curating his collection? “I have a broad taste, though I do enjoy fully on-chain works, such as Avastars and Strange Attractors and others,” he shares. “I’m also very interested in collecting ‘historical’ pieces from cryptoartists who were at the very edge of it all as it was emerging, especially on Ethereum.”

Is there anyone in the NFT space that he really admires? Takens Theorem answers: “A major influenc e in the spac e is an artist called hex6c. As a mathematician and artist himself, he rebuilds the code of the earliest generative artists, like Vera Molnár. I’m also inspired by many others in the space who draw on crypto culture, such as Josie, Stellabelle, Coldie, Simon de la Rouviere, patternbase, divergence, and many others.”

Although he resisted the ‘artist’ label for very long, Takens Theorem has since learned to embrace it. He rates the mutual support he has experienced within the space as one of the undeniable highlights.
