Sam1 has a hefty list of NFT-related accolades to his name. In addition to being the co-founder of mDAO, which later grew into NeonDAO, he is also a founding member of Bright Moments DAO and served on the Founding Curation Board of FingerPrints DAO. He is also a Core Team Member of SquiggleDAO.
Collecting cards, coins, and toys from a very young age, Sam1 wants nothing more than to see the NFT space become accessible to everyone.
Since joining the CryptoPunks Discord in January 2021, Sam1 has experienced firsthand just how powerful the community aspect of the NFT space truly is. Artists, collectors, thought leaders, and investors can communicate with each other and forge long-term relationships. This is unlike the hierarchical and tiered systems of the traditional art space.
When curating his collection, Sam1 ultimately collects things he likes. He typically values aesthetics, community, historical achievements, and technological advancements the most.
Sam1 rates the ‘aha’ moments people enjoy when he explains certain aspects of web3 and the blockchain to them as one of the most fulfilling parts of his journey so far. He elaborates: “Many people, including myself, have had life-changing events due to web3 by getting involved and participating. NFTs have positively impacted so many people worldwide in many different ways. In no other industry do you get so many benefits from just participating. The bonds that you build with the artists/builder/collector behind the NFT are truly fulfilling.”
The crypto art scene is predicted to grow considerably over the next few years. Sam1 shares how he sees the near future unfolds: “The applications for blockchain technology to solve useful real-world problems are not fully developed; hence there’s a lot of growth coming. When you look at the metrics that matter, communities, and builders keep growing in numbers even in this bear market, this is where the true building happens for the next wave of innovation.”
Quick to admit that he had somewhat of an OCD personality as a child, Sam1 would spend a lot of time obsessing over creating a perfect collection. The NFT space – and the digital art scene – will continue to grow with individuals such as Sam1 and their incredible work in DAOs and projects that push the boundaries of art and NFT technology.
