Rodrigo

Small Town, Big Talent

“The NFT space can be challenging to navigate. Having a strong and supportive network can make a significant difference, and Rodrigo is appreciative of the many artists and friends he connected with who believe in his work.”

Rodrigo’s striking art fearlessly examines progressive behavior, culture, and organic human experiences. Born in a small town in Brazil, Rodrigo relocated to Rio de Janeiro to study and establish himself as an artist. After a career spanning nearly 15 years, he was approached by a Canadian studio and has been residing there ever since.

Growing up relatively out of touch with technology, Rodrigo only possessed very rudimental knowledge of the blockchain before first learning about NFTs in 2020.

First considering actually entering the NFT space during the pandemic in 2021, it wasn’t until 02 March that his genesis, ‘Tears of Joy?,’ dropped on Foundation after he secured an invite to the marketplace from a friend. Once Rodrigo started selling his art, his potential became obvious, and he was invited to join SuperRare too. Other notable pieces include ‘Face Filter,’ ‘Resillience,’ and ‘Algo_Slave.’

Many artists rate collaborations with other creatives as one of the highlights of their NFT journeys. While Rodrigo values collaboration, he approaches it with caution. He explains: “I am selective about collabs because I prioritize establishing my artistic identity. It’s essential to me that my style remains distinct and recognizable.”

AI continues to revolutionize creative spaces. While some warmly embrace it, others are vehemently fighting against it. Rodrigo sports a very balanced view. He shares: “In the beginning, I was angry because AI seemed like a way artists could ‘cheat’ the system. Now that I understand it better, I know that it can serve as a wonderful tool that can enhance an artist’s work too.”

While working in design and animation in Canada, Rodrigo has collaborated on several award-winning projects for clients, including Google, Microsoft, FX, Netflix, Shopify, and Apple.
