Collecting NFTs came naturally to Mooncat2878, who was an ardent Pokémon card collector in his younger days. Ever since first joining the crypto space in 2015, he has stepped up his collecting efforts considerably and is now the proud owner of a very impressive NFT collection.
Not a strategic person by his own standards, Mooncat2878 trusts his gut when investing in NFTs. He strives to collect only pieces that truly resonate with him. One of the highlights of his time in web3 is undoubtedly buying ‘Original 004’ by GxngYang for an impressive 88,88 ETH. Another memorable moment involves discovering that rescuing ‘Mooncats’ was a thing. The Mooncat trend is also what triggered his NFT journey and inspired his pseudonym.
How does Mooncat2878 feel about AI’s ever-increasing presence in the NFT space? “I am a big fan of AI art in general,” he shares. “I have been the biggest investor in ‘Braindrops,’ which is a platform for generative AI art. I think 2023 will be the year of AI and that art will definitely be a big part of it. I think AI art will matter big time in the future; hence I invested a lot into it.”
Somewhat hesitant to share his predictions for the future, Mooncat2878 is still blown away by the speed at which the NFT space is evolving. He does, however, believe that digital art will become more prevalent in museums and art galleries over the next few years.
What advice would he like to share with aspiring collectors? “My advice would be to follow your gut feeling and your heart. Buy art that suits you and you are okay with holding onto for a long time. Buy art you want to give your children, and so on. Have a long-term mindset.”
