MetaDad often waxes lyrical about the greatest loves of his life: his wife, children, and NFTs!

First venturing into the web3 in 2017, MetaDad’s interest in NFTs was only piqued at the beginning of 2021. One of the first stops on his journey was OpenSea, where he scooped up a Bored Ape for $900 within days of it dropping.

While many collectors in the NFT space vigorously collected everything from Pokémon cards to Tamagotchis from a very young age, MetaDad rates his own appetite for collection as ‘pretty normal.’

Since first joining the space, MetaDad’s strategy has changed considerably. Whereas PFPs were his main focus at the start of his NFT journey, his focus has since become more balanced. His current collection boasts a Chromie Squiggle by SnowFro and pieces by some of the biggest names in the NFT space, including Tjo, Omentejovem, and Alpha Centauri Kid, as well as his top 100 Fake Rare collection.

Many traditional artists and collectors have ventured into web3 over the past few years. Unfortunately, many obstacles still need to be overcome before mass adoption can be realized. MetaDad says: “I think it’s hard for those of us who are already in the space and passionate about it to take a step back and see what others see. We definitely have our work cut out for us before we see this so-called mass adoption.”

Although impassioned about NFTs, MetaDad has not fully left his day job behind to pursue his true passion. “I think that’s really the goal: to get into web3 permanently. It’s something I’m super passionate about. I am just not in a position at the moment to throw myself into it full-time. But I am working on it. There are big things coming,” he shares.
