After working in a few different positions across the crypto and web3 industry, GigaChadPepe exited the fever pitch of the DeFi movement as a relative skeptic of NFTs as a whole. Mostly dismissive of PFPs as another iteration of the ICO era of market mania, it all changed when he discovered the 1/1 art scene. “At some point in 2021, it just clicked for me that this is a new asset class…,” he shares. “I understood immediately that the tech solutions offered for on-chain art are something we’ve never seen before, bringing untold benefits to provenance, transparency, global access, and settlement in wider art markets.”
THE COLLECTOR In his own collection, GigaChadPepe documents his journey in exploring various visual art mediums. Keen to support artists in need, he’s found a soft spot for Ukrainian and Iranian creators through the events of 2022. As his confidence improved and his tastes refined, he began to better understand what aficionados deem “timeless” in art. “I collect things that make me laugh or bring me joy. I collect what deeply moves me. I collect what I think is underserved. But above all, I collect from artists who tell stories that transcend boundaries, and are still worth being told and heard generations from now.”
THE OPERATOR In the workspace, GigaChadPepe contributes to a variety of projects and communities as an operator. But his true vision for the space has been formed in co-founding Art of this Millennium (AOTM), a global gallery specializing in contemporary digital art. Borrowing from the working parts of the traditional art world, AOTM works hand in hand with artists every step of the way from ideation to ultimately placing works with top patrons. Through its publishing house, AOTM produces supporting content to help contextualize their artists’ work and magnify their social significance. Putting the artist first, AOTM is built to set the broader art world ablaze and create accessible, impactful, and lasting legacies for its lineup of world-class creators.
