BLURRING THE LINE BETWEEN THE SYNTHETIC AND THE NATURAL

“The human race as a whole is still in its infancy, technology-wise. But I do believe blockchain technology or a derivative thereof will be pivotal in the way that records are kept and transactions carried out.”

Dexamol.eth has always been fascinated by insects, sketching them from when he was a child. In 2001 he began his exploration of 3D. While working on animated television commercials for the likes of McDonald’s, Coca-Cola, Nike, Adidas, and Mitsubishi, he created a portfolio of his own work. In 2018, Dexamol put that work onto Instagram, his posts were shared, and he started to gain followers. “I was putting content out on a regular basis.” He was also hanging out with other artists on Discord. Then the pandemic hit, and Dexamol was retrenched. It was a hard blow, which left him broke and struggling. But there was a silver lining as he had time to sketch and refine his work.

Dexamol minted his first piece on Foundation, which he told no one about, before being accepted onto SuperRare. Collector Paddy_Stash found out about his genesis piece and snapped it up.

Dexamol is a founding member of Bloom, a collective that was born from an idea floated on Discord “that stands for the absolute highest levels of quality, integrity, and diversity.” The collective has shown in galleries in China, Canada, the USA, and Japan. Bloom drops on Nifty Gateway and is competing for a Space in SuperRare. “Spaces are independent galleries on SuperRare that curate, promote, and sell artworks. Each Space is voted into the network by the community of $RARE holders.” The artists of Bloom have experience in both the traditional and digital art world.

Dexamol’s work explores a future of synthetic insects and cyborgs. “My work celebrates high detail and finds beauty in small things, while blurring the line between the synthetic and the natural.” So he’s the right person to ask about the future. “The human race as a whole is still in its infancy, technology-wise. But I do believe blockchain technology or a derivative thereof will be pivotal in the way that records are kept, and transactions carried out. The pace is picking and a lot of technologies being developed around the blockchain sound mesmerizing.”

“To me, the argument of technology versus nature doesn’t exist. They’re the same entity. One of the trees that we’ve planted bears technological fruit. It’s a natural evolution. Consider perhaps the non-dualism in Buddhism. Mull it over because being less judgmental towards things is a very practical way to go about your life.”
