Bitcoin Prophet is an art collector from New York City. He’s always loved people and building relationships – and this underscores his every move in web3. “I’ve always loved getting to know people. I kind of view each person as an individual planet in the sky, if you will, or a star.”
He got into the art space and web3 in 2017 and has been on a fantastic journey since, “just forming relationships with the leading artists, rising star artists, founders of companies, and venture capital firms,” he shares.
He shares his motivation around his collection: each purchase is an investment into the artist, the person. “Yes, I buy art that I love. But I really collect and support artists that I believe will change the world one way or another in a positive way,” he enthuses.
Bitcoin Prophet is a partner of The Mad Pups and The Metropolitan Fund, two influential groups on the blockchain. The Mad Pups, a collector-led group, dropped a curated collection on Nifty Gateway on January 1, 2022.
He’s also an advisor for numerous Web3 startups and equity investor in various Web3 companies, with SuperRare, GeoJam and Constellation Network, as examples.
What does the Bitcoin Prophect foresee for the artists in the space? “I always just try to help position them for success, whether it’s pricing strategy, whether it’s branding, whether it’s a way to differentiate oneself. Those are critical to understanding and mastering: when new artists and creators enter the NFT space, collectors and buyers will be overwhelmed by the sea of choices. It is up to the artists to build a strong identity and brand to separate them from the casual artists and creators.”
Although Bitcoin Prophet loves the NFT art space, he recognizes the current challenges for artists and potential collectors. “The technology today is still very tough to figure out, and that’s why there’s a huge hurdle with onboarding the masses.”
