From Paris with Love
“NFTs are, collectively, the tool that digital artists have been waiting for. It has been a long road in digital art history to get there.”
Albertine Meunier is a bodacious artist, collector, and curator. Dabbling in digital art since 1998, she first ventured into the NFT space in 2020 under the guidance of a close friend, Robbie Barratt. After following the bidding on his artwork ‘St Nazaire,’ Albertine became so engrossed in all things NFT that she started her NFT collection and shortly after tested the waters as an artist too.
In only three years, Albertine has several noteworthy projects under her belt. Her first edition, titled ‘NFT stands for…,’ was followed by a series of NFTs that were connected to a tangible project called ‘My Google Search History,’ that she has been working on for the past 16 years.
Every artist has a creative process that is as unique as their artwork. Albertine is no different. She explains: “My artistic process is both simple and complex, and both fast and slow. I use traditional tools, such as Photoshop, and AI tools, such as MidJourney and DALL-E.”
An avid collector, Albertine started buying NFTs in 2020. In addition to being a fervent digital art lover, she is also passionate about simply supporting other artists in the space.
Who does Albertine rate as her biggest artistic influences? “DADA, for sure! I am completely smitten with this incredible art movement and its impertinent, offbeat, unpredictable artworks.”
Has Albertine gained any unique insight into the world of art thanks to her involvement in the NFT space? She says: “NFTs are, collectively, the tool that digital artists have been waiting for. It has been a long road in digital art history to get there. We must remember that it did not come by itself but that many artists have paved the way.”
Born and bred in Paris, Albertine is currently working on an NFT collection called ‘HyperChips’ that is created with DALL-E and based on the prompt: “Albertine Meunier is eating sausages and chips.”
Albertine has the utmost respect and admiration for several of her peers, including Robness, MaxOsiris, LuluxXX, and Norman Harman.
