When giving advice to newcomers to the NFT space, 33 emphasizes the importance of not giving up too soon or setting your prices too high at the start of your NFT journey.

33’s internet journey started in the nineties when he made a living from buying and selling domain names. An early adopter of crypto as well, he purchased his first Bitcoin in 2012. Always wary of scams, he didn’t have any trust in the NFT space until he started to educate himself on the ins and outs of the space during lockdown. This only happened in 2020 after he came across Trevor Jones’ genesis NFT project, which sold for $50k.

Despite his initial apprehension, 33 believes there are significantly fewer risks in investing in NFTs than in physical works of art. He rates the lack of shipping fees and the reduced possibility of damage during transit as two of the top benefits of accumulating a digital art collection.

After reading in The Guardian that an art museum was forced to sell a Banksy in order to keep their doors open as a result of lockdown, 33 saw an opportunity to educate them on digital art. Taking his advice to heart, the museum soon amassed its own NFT collection, and there were even 33NFT digital art exhibitions at Moco Museum Amsterdam and Barcelona in December 2020.

Unable to support all the artists in the space, 33 created a VIP Pass and a Gold Pass, of which he ended up selling 1,900 and 476, respectively. From there, he went to Nifty Gateway, where he organized his own curated drops with the added element that editions will sell for $33.

Although it’s not easy to accurately predict what will happen within the NFT space in the next decade, 33 shares his own thoughts: “I foresee a big cleaning-up exercise happening in the space. Some platforms are going to disappear. Others are going to be renamed, rebranded, or merged with other platforms.”

In addition to 33, the collector, there is also 33, the community, which was birthed thanks to a sudden influx of followers on social media.
